Challenge
Traditional night-time visibility depends on extensive street and pathway lighting, which is expensive to install and maintain and consumes significant energy year-round. Yet removing lighting isn’t an option—poorly lit roads and trails dramatically increase the risk of accidents and injuries. We needed a solution that could reduce costs and energy use without compromising safety.
Solution
I co-developed and pitched Glow Innovations, a phosphorescent paint that absorbs daylight and emits a soft glow after dark. My work spanned concept to market readiness:
Product Design: Helped shape the paint formula and application method to ensure durability and long-lasting luminosity.
Market Outreach: Conducted product–market-fit research and direct outreach to early adopters such as universities, campgrounds, governments, and more to validate demand and gather feedback.
Financial Planning: Built pricing models, performed margin calculations, and mapped cost scenarios to keep the product both profitable and affordable for large-scale use.
Pitch Development: Crafted investor presentations and pilot proposals highlighting energy savings and safety benefits.
Impact
Secured early interest from multiple campuses and recreational facilities.
Produced financial models showing viable margins at competitive market pricing.
